Word got around - that a fellow was spending time
In love's cowshed, his goodnight kisses were in cottages
Where he shouldn't have been, this sweet-talking lover-boy.
Word was he spent a week away 'visiting', he'd been far
Away from home - moving from wife to wife, giving nice
Hugs to the farm-girls...

The wise wife heard it from the folk who dropped in,
She heard the whispering in the village: he's at it again,
There's no stopping him, such a sweet-talking lover-boy.

But now - now comes the crack of a whip, the lash of
A leather whip. Now comes the whack of a cane - whack,
Whack, whack, whack , goes the cane.

The wise wife, she's angry. She snarls at him, she won't be
Fooled any longer. There'll be no more business in the barn,
No more burrowing under the blanket. Only the lash of a
Leather whip and the whack of a cane.

She's told him what she thinks of him. Told him to get out.
Sent the cheating scumbag on his way.
