Everything was new once
But everything grew old
I'm stuck in an abandoned town
Scraping for gold

Well everything had eyes once
But eventually grew blind
It all looks so much smaller now
When I turn to look behind

I came here to take pictures
But I ended up with lines
It doesn't make much difference though,
They're both ways to capture time and
If it means a single night
Without stumbling into a distant sleep
I will make the sacrifice

I remember feeling good once
But then everything turned bad
Now I'm steady on my way
Going back to what I had

And if it's true, if you can only really love once
I will lay it in your hands
Somehow become a part of
All that you have planned

I came to find the shrine here
Well it's a temple now instead
It doesn't make much difference though
They're both tributes to the dead and
If it means a single thought
That's not crawling out of the darkest place
I will make the sacrifice

And if you my dear across the sea
Could somehow take notice of me
I would make the sacrifice
