This way or that way I cannot remember
Lost in the depths of this forsaken maze
Right or left? Straight ahead?
Always changing in the labyrinth

A voice whispers in his ears
Words of madness invoking his fears
Spinning on a gyro it seems
Find the center or die trying

Closer, closer, this is what you always wanted
Find me, claim me, welcome to your last ordeal

Am I getting closer?
I feel an eerie chill
Voices getting stronger
I move against my will

Labyrinth built by ancient hands
Conceals the power they couldn't understand
Something is emanating deep within its core
Drawing me in, more and more

After days of searching, I begin to tire
I must find the center
When over my shoulder I saw a glyph
Was it always there? So obvious
Pressing upon this strange design
A door begins to open
At last I've found that which I sought
Or is it just a trap in which I'm caught?

I know you're tired now
A journey across land and sea
I've been beckoning to see you
Here we sit at the council of the ages past
There's one question I've brought you here to ask...

Perfect simmetry inflected by a dias
Garden of knowledge amid this harsh climate
Beneath an arch of thorns he wails
Venerable man, wizened by age

Your arrival I've anticipated for a century
Now you stand before me to heed my beckoning
I've kept this sword in the stone but it grows restless now
It has chosen you to wield, it doesn't consume your mind
Will you wield this blade and walk the path of a conqueror
Or have the trials you've passed brought wisdom to bear

Now I stand divided between two conflicting paths
Glory, honour and fame await should I choose to own this blade
Left my home a boy, eager for the quest
But that was years ago, before I faced my death
My spirit longs to rule, although my heart knows the price
Though I stand alone, it is my final word
To cast away this blade and find my way home
For glory is impressive, to lead is my desire
But the path of bloodshed has a fate most dire

The reign of kings shall fail
Neither shall ye prevail
The flesh of man is oft' weak
Command this power that I speak
And I will ascend
Free of this wizard's rule
So now claim me as your own
And sit atop the gilded throne

There is but one chance to escape
Try to run now and leave this place

Now I run for my life
And my soul has been spared
I shall atone for my misdeeds
But when will I go home?

In a flash, exploding like a keg of powder
Walls of the labyrinth begin to fall
I fought my best to find that cursed sword
When all I heard was laughter as I hit the ground

In that moment, I came to see
A different way of living, another way to be
Was it too late? Is this how it will end?
Or is my salvation coming around the bend?

A loss of wits but for an instant
The smoke cleared and then it was all gone
As my longings were for home and nothing more
The silhouette of a man I could see
By the Gods! He recognizes me
