Roly walked in
Said with a grim
"Somebody's stolen my heart"
Ma gave a shout
Said "who's to your spouse
Is she rich, does she own a big car"?

Well Roly sat down
Said "Oh what a clown I am
Bring me a drink from the bar"
Ma was almost in tears
Ain't had a wedding for a year
Somebody run and fetch car

Oh Roly is gonna get married poor
Roly is gonna get wed
Yeah Roly is gonna get married poor
I think he must be out of his head

We'll be wed in a week
I don't think I'll sleep
He said "Can't stand the pain we're apart"
Well ma was so glad
Pa shook his head
And said "I always thought Roly was smart"
