The evening is clear,
As I stand by the pier,
Looking over at Buncrana and Dunree,
And as so often before,

I pray God that you're in Heaven,
With the Star of the sea.

May you peacefully sleep,
In the arms of the deep.
May the sea that took your life now set you free.
And in the dark of the night,
With the wind at its height,
May you guide the fearful sailor, like the
Star of the sea.

So many times I've thought about you.
This place is not the same without you.
May your soul be at rest,
May your children be blessed.
May you live forever in our memory.
May your spirit run wild,
Where you ran here as a child.
And may your smile light up the Heavens
Like the star of the sea.
