Since I fell on hard times
I haven't known what to do
I spend my days here in line
Just waiting for something new
From fireworks and peaches
To weed, speed and bluegrass
From buses that burn
And barns that lean down
As far as my memory reaches

I thought I might have seen a sign
With the first dust of snow
But it added up to nothing

If my prayers are just a habit

For thinking life ain't worth living

On these air patrolled highways
