Barefeet Songtext

I was woken by the postman
Followed by the siren of an ice cream van
And the kids were making too much noise
I had to go out and shout and confiscate their toys

I want to buy a big house on a waterfront
With a view of the bay and with trees in front
It'll have to have heating in the swimming pool
So it's eighty six degrees even when it's cool
I want to be where I can walk in barefeet
'cause they don't break milk bottles in the back street

I was nearly asleep when I was disturbed
By a crack like a whip, but I knew what i'd heard
Then there was a knock at my front door
It was eddie, he's a friend of my neighbor
Eddie said "mike can I use your phone
Billy's been shot in his own home"

I want to buy a big house...

I want to buy a little plastic yacht
Even though I know I'd never use it alit
Maybe we could take it out one day
Go and visit some friends that live across the bay
I want to buy a big car and never drive it
Have a double garage where I can I hide it
With temperature control so my leather seat
Won't stick to my pants in the summer heat
I want to buy a big painting, a twelve by eight
By somebody who's famous and everyone hates
It'll have to be expensive and real sparse
And I won't know what it means when my friends ask

I just want to be where I can walk in barefeet
'cause they don't break milk bottles in the back street
