The crowds are throwing sticks and stones
Burning cars and Jewish homes
It's gettin' hard to get a loan
Without a banker friend you've known
And frankly speaking time has shown
That what you reap you must have sown

The pastor's laid his Bible down
And joined the movement underground
While the whole world sits around
We watch the ship of state go down
Watch the dollar slowly drown
Two toimes up an' three times down
And no one says well I'll be damned but me

But that doesn't matter anymore like it used to do

The courts have told us where we're at
We're not the same old American cat
The upper crust and the bottom fat
And the guy who split from where he's at
Came over here alone and flat
And worked like hell at the laundrymat
Now he owns a laundrymat or two
