There's a sign upon the wall
It's all been said before
When did we ever stop and look
Who's lying against... closed doors

City streets, over crowded, growing by the day
Caught in a maze, our bureaucratic system's
Wasting away

Cold and lonely, endless streetlights
Nowhere to turn to
They didn't want you
Through the winter nights

Just keep holding on... across the streets paved with gold
Just keep holding on... to the promises told
When tomorrow comes... you'll be walking through heaven's door
Beggars can't be choosers anymore

Skipping sunbeams 'cross the sky
With magic flowing by
But all we see are windows bordered up
The poverty's... an outcry

It's said that home, is where your heart is
Then you're satisfied
But living rough, is bad enough
It strips a poorman's pride
