Lightning ripped and clothes were torn
Cast down onto a glistening sand below
As the shouts and the calls from the village that spurned them
Now burned them at their moonlit backs
A gentle touch on each others face
That was the only truth that either would obey
A smiling nod and a tear was felt
As they embrace for one last time this day
The sound of baying crowds barking closer as torchlight crossed the beach
No more would words curse them, forever more out of reach

And they crashed through midnight waves and basked in the full moon's rays
Hand in hand over lilting swells, far from an angry shore
