I was in heaven for a little while last night
When he came around
And showed me what i'd never seen before
After checking wings and halo at the door
How an angel looks half dressed, and lying down

I was in heaven for a little while last night
But it was after hours
When all the hard work of being good is done
Well who knew that angels could be such fun
And were so fond of taking long hot showers?

Now i'm back here on earth
It's the same place i knew
Where the days they go by
And time tells you what to do
But i'd trade all these city streets, and pretty flowers
For another peek at angel after hours
For another peek at anger after hours

I was in heaven for a little while last night
Though it wasn't planned
Everything else fell away when he flew in
And i didn't have to wonder where the hell he'd been
He made bells ring and birds sing with just one hand

Now i'm back here on earth
It's the right place to be
But i feel him up there
Looking straight down at me
And i'd swear off mascara and whiskey sours
